Nearly 17,000 homes in Japan remain without power after typhoon

Nearly 17,000 residential buildings and apartments in Japan’s Chiba and Kanagawa prefectures, which neighbor Tokyo, are still without electricity following the impact of Typhoon Dujuan, a division of Tokyo Electric Power, the region’s largest energy provider, reported.

The company said crews are working to restore electricity supplies by September 25.

Local authorities reported that around 600 residential buildings sustained serious damage in the affected areas. Railway services in Chiba prefecture also continue to face disruptions as officials assess tracks and railway equipment after extensive flooding.

The typhoon’s aftermath has claimed 10 lives, while four people remain missing. Landslides were responsible for most of the reported deaths.
