This projection comes from the forecasts of international rating agency Moody’s. According to Moody’s, the current account surplus will reach 7% of GDP by the end of 2025, 5% in 2026, and 5.2% in 2027, according to local media.
In 2024, Azerbaijan recorded a current account surplus of $4.7 billion, equivalent to 6.3% of GDP.
The Central Bank of Azerbaijan reported that in January–September 2025, the country’s current account surplus was $3.02 billion, or 5.4% of GDP. This figure is expected to rise to $3.7 billion by the end of 2025, assuming an average oil price of approximately $70 per barrel.
