Italy's Passler tests positive in Milano Cortina's first doping case

Italian biathlon athlete Rebecca Passler has tested positive for letrozole in the first doping case affecting the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, which starts with the opening ceremony at the San Siro Stadium on Friday, ANSA sources said on Monday.

The 24-year-old will be suspended and will miss the Games, the sources said.

Letrozole is an aromatase inhibitor and it is banned because it can be used to counteract the side effects of anabolic steroids.
