“The Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States has become an important and effective platform for strengthening our solidarity and serves as a vital mechanism for developing cooperation, coordinating joint activities, and promoting a common position on issues of shared interest. Through parliamentary diplomacy, dialogue, and the exchange of experience, we can contribute to addressing the challenges facing our societies and improving the well-being of our peoples,” said Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova at the official opening ceremony of the 20th Session of the Conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, according to AZERTAC.
She noted that the Islamic world continues to face serious challenges that require collective solutions.
“Poverty, social and economic inequality, armed conflicts, humanitarian crises, terrorism, and extremism have a significant negative impact and hinder efforts aimed at sustainable development. To overcome these challenges and realize its full potential, the Islamic world needs unity and solidarity based on the enduring Islamic values of peace, tolerance, harmony, and justice,” she added.
