Hikmet Hajiyev: Resolution adopted by the European Parliament is not legally binding for Azerbaijan

Hikmet Hajiyev noted that although the conflict has ended, the humanitarian problems it has created, especially the mine threat, still remain.

According to him, over 420 Azerbaijani citizens have been killed or injured due to mine explosions since 2020.

The Presidential Assistant underlined that extensive mine planting of Azerbaijani territories during the occupation impedes the reconstruction process, adding, however, demining efforts are currently underway in these territories.

Hikmet Hajiyev also noted that issues related to persons of Armenian origin detained in Azerbaijan are resolved in line with the legislation and decisions in this field are made by judicial bodies.

He added that the restoration and construction efforts carried out in the territories liberated from occupation are aligned with existing urban development plans and appropriate measures are being taken regarding facilities illegally constructed during the occupation.
