FM Bayramov congratulates new OIC chief, invites him to Azerbaijan

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and invited him to visit Azerbaijan.

In his congratulatory letter shared by the OIC on X, Bayramov expressed confidence that, under Ould Cheikh Ahmed’s leadership and drawing on his extensive diplomatic and international experience, the OIC would continue advancing its objectives, strengthening unity, solidarity and cooperation among member states, and addressing the common challenges facing the Muslim world.

Bayramov also noted that Baku highly values its fruitful cooperation with the OIC General Secretariat, the organization's continued support for Azerbaijan's initiatives, and its principled position on issues concerning Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty.

"The Minister stressed that Azerbaijan, as an active Member State of the OIC and the incoming Chair of the Islamic Summit Conference, attaches particular importance to further strengthening the Organization, enhancing its effectiveness and consolidating unity and solidarity among Member States. He expressed his country"s readiness to work closely with the Secretary-General to achieve shared goals and priorities," the statement said.

Bayramov also invited the OIC secretary general to visit Azerbaijan at the earliest opportunity to exchange views on developing bilateral cooperation and contributing to the successful organization of the upcoming 16th Islamic Summit Conference.
