England held by Ghana in scoreless World Cup draw

England were held to a 0-0 draw by Ghana in Boston on Tuesday, missing the opportunity to build on their winning start to the FIFA World Cup campaign.

After beginning the tournament with a 4-2 victory over Croatia, England found it difficult to break down a well-organized Ghanaian side that adopted a defensive approach for much of the match.

The Three Lions were unable to replicate the attacking rhythm and creativity they displayed in their opening game, creating only a limited number of clear chances against opponents who kept the majority of their players behind the ball. Ghana, meanwhile, did not register a shot until the 50th minute.

England increased the pressure in search of a late winner but failed to capitalize on several opportunities. Bukayo Saka tested goalkeeper Benjamin Asare with a strong effort, while Nico O’Reilly struck the crossbar. Harry Kane later fired over the bar from close range, and Marc Guehi saw a header cleared off the line in the closing moments.

The result leaves England and Ghana tied on four points in Group L after two matches. Both teams remain unbeaten in the tournament following victories in their respective opening fixtures.
