Azerbaijani chess player Aydin Suleymanli grabbed a silver medal at the Bucharest Grand Prix 2026 in rapid game.

After scoring 8.5 points, Suleymanli shared the top spot with Mexico's José Martínez Alcántara, finishing second based on tie-break indicators.

Another Azerbaijani chess player Rauf Mammadov finished 7th with 8 points.

The tournament brought together 581 chess players from 27 countries.
