Azerbaijan records 1,287 new HIV cases in 2025

In 2025, a total of 1,287 new HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) infections were registered at the Republic AIDS Combat Center in Azerbaijan, according to the annual report of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan.

The report states that 11,900 people are officially registered with the center nationwide.

If left untreated, HIV gradually weakens the immune system, leading to complications, various illnesses, and eventually Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome (AIDS). The first HIV case in Azerbaijan was identified in 1987.
