Azerbaijan marks 3 years since establishment of Lachin border checkpoint

Three years have passed since Azerbaijan established the Lachin border checkpoint.

On April 23, 2023, at 12:00, units of the State Border Service of the Republic of Azerbaijan set up a border checkpoint on the country’s sovereign territory, at the border with Armenia, at the starting point of the Lachin–Khankendi road.

A ceremony to raise the Azerbaijani flag took place at the newly established checkpoint, after which a report was delivered from the site to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev.

The Lachin border checkpoint was created to prevent the transfer of personnel, weapons, ammunition, mines, and other military equipment from Armenia to illegal Armenian armed groups operating within Azerbaijan’s territory.

As President Ilham Aliyev emphasized, April 23 marks the complete restoration of Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity.
