Azerbaijan condoles Pakistan over fatal Karachi fire

Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry has extended its condolences to Pakistan following the tragic loss of life in a fire at a shopping center in Karachi.

"We are deeply saddened by the tragic fire at a shopping mall in Karachi, Pakistan, which resulted in the loss of innocent lives and injuries. We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and to the brotherly people and Government of Pakistan," the ministry said in a post on X. 

"We wish a swift recovery to the injured and express our solidarity with Pakistan during this difficult time," it added.

Rescue teams continued searching through the charred debris of a major shopping mall in Pakistan’s commercial capital on Tuesday as the death toll from a massive fire rose to 26, with at least 81 people still reported missing, officials said.

A latest list issued by the Deputy Commissioner South office in Karachi showed that 81 people, including women and children, remain unaccounted for, raising fears the toll could rise as search operations continue.

By Monday evening, authorities had recovered 26 bodies from the debris.
