Ankara deploys nearly 49,000 police for NATO summit

Preparations have been completed for the 36th NATO Heads of State and Government Summit, which gets underway in Türkiye on Tuesday, according to Haber Global.

The two-day summit will bring together leaders of all 32 NATO member states, along with thousands of diplomats, journalists and invited guests.

According to the report, all organizational arrangements, including security, logistics, communications and technological infrastructure, have been finalized ahead of the high-level gathering. During the summit, leaders are expected to discuss strengthening NATO's deterrence and defense capabilities, Euro-Atlantic security, defense spending, the alliance's long-term strategic objectives, as well as key regional and global security challenges.

"Esenboğa, Ankara, and Mürted airports will serve participants during the summit. For security, a total of 56,927 personnel will be deployed, including 48,841 police officers, 7,447 gendarmerie personnel, and 639 cybersecurity staff," the report said.
