Lithuania extends sanctions on Russia, Belarusuntil 2027

The decision builds on legislation adopted in April 2023, when Lithuania passed a law introducing sanctions against states whose actions negatively affect the security of Ukraine.

Under the original provisions, the law was set to remain in force until May 2, 2026.

According to the explanatory note accompanying the draft decision, the extension of the restrictive measures reflects the current security situation in the region. It also underscores the continued need to maintain policies aimed at safeguarding security and stability amid ongoing regional challenges.
