Gold jumps over $22, silver also gains

Gold prices rose sharply in global markets, with the price of one troy ounce increasing by $22.30 to reach $5,024.50 on the COMEX Commodity Exchange in New York.

Silver also posted gains, climbing $0.61 to $81.30 per ounce.
