FM Bayramov: Baku, Moscow normalized bilateral relations

The process of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Russia has been successful, thanks in part to the personal initiatives of the two heads of state, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said at a joint press conference with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, following bilateral talks in Moscow on Friday, according to Report news agency. 

"We have encountered difficulties in our recent bilateral relations, and we are pleased to note that we have been able to turn the page and fully normalize the entire spectrum of relations. This was made possible thanks to the personal commitment of our presidents. This process took place following a personal meeting between the two heads of state on the sidelines of an international event in Dushanbe," Bayramov said.

According to him, overall, today's talks with his Russian counterpart were "very thorough and productive."

"We were able to review the entire range of events. We also focused on the implementation of existing agreements discussed at the highest level, and highlighted the prospects for cooperation in a number of new areas. The issue of trade and economic cooperation between our countries was specifically addressed. Despite the challenges facing the global economy, we are pleased to note that this track in our relations is positive," the Azerbaijani foreign minister added.
