Davide Massa to officiate Newcastle–Qarabağ clash

Renowned Italian FIFA referee Davide Massa has been appointed to oversee the second-leg match of the UEFA Champions League play-off round between England’s Newcastle United and Azerbaijan’s Qarabağ FK.

Massa will be assisted by his compatriots Filippo Meli and Stefano Alassio, while Luca Pairetto has been designated as the fourth official.

The video assistant referee (VAR) duties will be handled by Daniele Ciffi, with Christian Dingert of Germany serving as assistant VAR.

The decisive encounter is scheduled to take place at the iconic St. James’ Park on the night of February 24-25, with kick-off set for 00:00 Baku time.

In the first leg held in Baku, Newcastle United claimed a commanding 6-1 victory over Qarabağ.
