Bahrain sentences five to life for plotting with Iran

Five people have been sentenced to life in Bahrain for plotting “terrorist and hostile acts” with Iran, according to Al Jazeera.

Bahrain’s public prosecutor said in a post on X that life sentences were given to two Afghan nationals and three Bahraini citizens.

“The Public Prosecution affirms that the crime of communicating with hostile foreign entities against the Kingdom of Bahrain is considered one of the most serious crimes affecting national security,” Bahrain’s public prosecution said in a statement on X.

Another 25 people were given prison sentences of up to 10 years f”or supporting the sinful Iranian terrorist acts against the Kingdom of Bahrain”.

This is the first case in which people in Bahrain are charged in connection with the war on Iran, according to Bahraini human rights activist Maryam Alkhawaja.
