Azerbaijani grandmaster Suleymanli stuns world No. 1 Magnus Carlsen

Azerbaijani chess player Aydin Suleymanli stunned chess legend, world No. 1, and five-time world champion Magnus Carlsen at the World Rapid and Blitz Team Championship in Hong Kong.

The Azerbaijani team Odlar Yurdu ultimately defeated one of the tournament favorites, WR Chess, by a score of 3.5–2.5.

The WR Chess team featured renowned grandmasters such as Magnus Carlsen, Fabiano Caruana, Wesley So, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.

With this victory, the Odlar Yurdu team concluded the tournament in eighth place with 15 points.
