Azerbaijan, Latvia explore opportunities for expanding joint activities in many areas

Mikayil Jabbarov, Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy, met with Armands Krauze, Latvian Minister of Agriculture and Co-chair of the Azerbaijan-Latvia Intergovernmental Commission.

During the meeting, Jabbarov stressed the importance Azerbaijan attaches to strengthening relations with Latvia, according to the Ministry of Economy.

He noted that the Joint Declaration on Establishing a Strategic Partnership signed between the two countries in 2017 serves as a solid foundation for deepening bilateral relations.

Minister Mikayil Jabbarov highlighted that the economic and trade partnership with Latvia is developing, as evidenced by the increase in mutual trade turnover last year and in the first two months of this year. However, both parties pointed out that significant opportunities remain to achieve even higher results in this area.

The Azerbaijani minister briefed the delegation on the favorable opportunities created for investors in Azerbaijan and the broad prospects for strengthening cooperation across various sectors, including the establishment of joint ventures, transit transportation, and tourism.

The ministers assessed opportunities for expanding joint activities in trade, energy, investment, transport, and agriculture.
