Azerbaijan joins OSJD meeting in Astana

The 14th meeting of the Conference of General Directors of the Organization for Cooperation of Railways (OSJD) marking the 70th anniversary of the organization has commenced in Astana, Kazakhstan, according to AZERTAC.

The event is attended by representatives from about 30 countries, including the railway authorities of Azerbaijan, China, Russia, Georgia, Hungary, Vietnam, as well as Poland and South Korea.

The meeting’s agenda includes the outcomes of the work done within the OSJD, the development of cargo and passenger transportation, infrastructure, digitization and personnel training issues.

Participants discuss key decisions on the development of international transit, synchronization of transport corridors and increasing the efficiency of transport in Eurasia.

The key objective of OSJD, founded in 1956, is development of international cargo and passenger transportation, creation of a common railway transport area in the Euro-Asian Region, increasing competitiveness of transcontinental railway routes and contributing to technological progress, scientific and technical cooperation in the field of railway transport.
