Second solar eclipse of 2026 set for August 12

The second and final solar eclipse of 2026 will take place on August 12, according to the Shamakhi Astrophysical Observatory.

The total phase of the eclipse will be visible along a path crossing Iceland, Spain, northwestern Portugal, Greenland and the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean. A partial solar eclipse will be observable across most of Europe, some areas of North America, parts of the Pacific Ocean and northwestern Africa.

The eclipse will begin at 19:34 Baku time (GMT+4) and will end at 23:57. The maximum phase of the eclipse will occur at 21:46. The entire eclipse is expected to last approximately five hours, while the total solar eclipse phase will continue for about seven minutes.

Similar to the first solar eclipse of 2026, the final eclipse of the year will not be visible from Azerbaijan.
