NATO, EU pressure Spain, Greece over Patriot missiles for Ukraine

NATO and the European Union (EU) are exerting pressure on Spain and Greece to provide interceptor missiles for Patriot systems to Ukraine.

According to Bloomberg, Ukraine urgently seeks additional air defense capabilities, warning that existing reserves are insufficient to repel Russian strikes. The Ukrainian Armed Forces particularly need missiles for US‑made Patriot complexes.

The issue will be raised at the upcoming meeting of EU defense and foreign ministers in Dublin. Furthermore, next week EU member states are expected to vote on whether Ukraine may purchase additional Patriot missiles using its own credit financing.

Bloomberg clarified that the stockpiles NATO allies intend to redirect to Kyiv are specifically held by Spain and Greece.
