Iran, Oman agree on new Strait of Hormuz route coordinates

Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on the geographical coordinates of a new route through the Strait of Hormuz, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said, adding that the two countries could soon issue a joint statement on the matter.

According to a statement published by the Iranian Foreign Ministry on its official Telegram channel, Baghaei said the geographical parameters of the route, which had been under discussion between the two sides, have now been finalized.

He added that if certain third countries do not interfere with the process, a joint statement detailing the main agreed provisions and key aspects of the route is in the final stages of approval and preparation for release.
