Iran claims to have shot down U.S. Reaper drone over Strait of Hormuz

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has shot down an MQ-9 Reaper drone flying over the Strait of Hormuz, according to the IRGC-operated Sepah News.

The drone was hit by a defence system operating over the strait, the report said. It’s unclear where the unmanned vehicle originated, but Reaper drones are primarily operated by the US Air Force.

Iran has intercepted more than 30 US Reaper drones since the US-Israel war on Iran began on February 28.
