Heavy rain disrupts dozens of flights at New Delhi airport

Dozens of flights were disrupted at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi on Monday due to heavy rain and adverse weather conditions, according to Anadolu Agency.

FlightRadar24, an online flight-tracking service, showed disruptions to both departures and arrivals at South Asia's busiest airport.

As many as 14 flights, including two international services, were diverted from the Indian capital, state-owned Doordarshan News reported.

Several airlines also warned passengers of disruptions on social media.

“Bad weather over Delhi has impacted flight schedules. We are closely monitoring the weather and doing our best to get you where you need to be, safely and smoothly,” the country's largest airline, IndiGo, said on US social media company X.

The India Meteorological Department had warned of heavy rain at isolated locations in New Delhi and nearby cities on Monday.

India experiences heavy monsoon rain each year, typically from June to September, often triggering floods and causing extensive property damage.
