Gold price climbs above $4,700 for first time since May

The price of a gold futures contract for October delivery on the New York Mercantile Exchange (COMEX) rose above $4,700 per troy ounce.

According to trading data, the precious metal was last traded at such a high level in May 2026.

As of 06:10 Baku time, gold prices had risen 0.55% to $4,706.4 per troy ounce.

By 06:30, the futures contract’s gains had increased, with the price reaching $4,713.8 per troy ounce, representing a 0.77% increase.
