Azerbaijan's commercial gas reserves reach 22.3 bcm in H1 2026

Azerbaijan’s commercial natural gas resources amounted to 22.26 billion cubic meters (bcm) in January-June 2026, including reserves held at the beginning of the year, according to the State Statistical Committee.

Of the country’s natural gas resources, 29.2% was consumed domestically, 60.1% was exported, 2.5% was lost, and 8.2% remained in reserves as of the beginning of July.

Of the gas consumed domestically, 56.8% was used for production needs, while 43.2% was supplied to households.

Baku accounted for 36.6% of household natural gas consumption. Nakhchivan accounted for 3.1%, Absheron-Khizi for 11.8%, Ganja-Dashkasan for 6.2%, Gazakh-Tovuz for 5.9%, Lankaran-Astara for 5.8%, Central Aran for 5.6%, Shaki-Zagatala for 5.5%, Guba-Khachmaz for 5.1%, and Karabakh for 4.7%.

Mil-Mughan and Shirvan-Salyan each accounted for 3.6% of household gas consumption, while Mountainous Shirvan accounted for 2.4% and East Zangazur for 0.1%.
