Azerbaijan and Jordan are moving toward abolishing visa requirements for citizens travelling between the two countries with ordinary passports.

A bill on implementing a bilateral agreement on visa-free travel has been included on the agenda of a September 14 meeting of the Azerbaijani Parliament’s Committee on International Relations and Interparliamentary Relations, according to local media.

Under the agreement, Azerbaijani and Jordanian citizens holding ordinary passports would be mutually exempt from visa requirements when travelling between the two countries.

The proposed arrangement is expected to make travel easier and strengthen people-to-people ties between Azerbaijan and Jordan, while also supporting bilateral relations, including tourism and business exchanges.

Following consideration by the parliamentary committee, the bill is expected to move forward through Azerbaijan’s legislative process.
