At least 6 killed, 34 injured in multi-vehicle crash in central Italy

At least 6 people were killed and 34 others injured in a major road accident on the Terni–Rieti highway near the border between Italy’s Lazio and Umbria regions.

According to Rai News, the crash involved a tourist bus, three passenger cars and a van.

The tourist bus collided head-on with a van traveling in the opposite direction. The three passenger cars were unable to avoid the collision, and one of them overturned.

Four of the victims—two drivers and two passengers—were on board the bus, which was transporting tourists to the Marmore Waterfall. The other two people killed were traveling in the van and were returning from a tour of the Terni area.

Three people with critical injuries, one of whom later died, were airlifted to Terni Hospital. Another injured person was transported to Rome’s Gemelli Hospital. The remaining 24 injured, including a child, were taken to hospitals in Rieti, Terni and Foligno for treatment.
