At least 29 dead as cyclones, monsoon batter the Philippines

The death toll from incidents linked to tropical cyclones Luis and Maymay, as well as the southwest monsoon (Habagat) in the Philippines, has risen to 29 people, according to local media reports that reference the Philippine Office of Civil Defense.

The highest number of fatalities was recorded in Benguet province.

Additionally, 19 people were injured, while three remain missing, according to local media reports.

The severe weather has affected more than 6.5 million people. Of this total, more than 47,000 individuals are currently staying across 628 evacuation centers.

The country's disaster management agency reported damage to 2,108 homes, including 1,882 partially damaged and 226 completely destroyed.
